Welcome! My name is Ashley Ma, and I serve as the Transfer Student Representative (TSR) on USAC. I’m a 2nd year transfer/4th year labor studies transfer student from UC Irvine. Last year, I had the privilege of serving as Director of Transfer Opportunities within the TSR office, as well as Student Relations Staff in the Internal Vice President’s office, and I’m thrilled to be serving on council in a new capacity this year, representing the voices of our incredible transfer student community!

I ran for TSR on three platforms: student organization transparency, academic success, and community college outreach & transition support. We need more transfer students in leadership roles, tailored academic resources, and stronger support systems to empower the next generation of transfers with the resources they need to thrive at UCLA.

As TSR, I sit on the USAC Appointments Review Committee (ARC), which interviews and evaluates student applicants for appointments. This year, I am also chairing the USAC Constitutional Review Committee (CRC), which evaluates changes to the constitution, bylaws, and other USA documents.

What is TSR?

  • The TSR position was established in 2014 through the efforts of student advocates to pass a referendum on the annual USAC election ballot. The creation of the position recognized the unique experiences, challenges, and contributions of transfer students at UCLA and ensured that transfer students would have dedicated representation within student government.

Since its establishment, the TSR office has worked to advocate for transfer student needs, increase access to campus resources, foster community among transfers, and amplify transfer student voices in university decision-making.

Within USAC, TSR sits on the Appointments Review Committee (ARC)

Today, the office continues to serve as a bridge between transfer students, campus administration, and USAC, striving to make UCLA a more supportive and inclusive environment for all transfer students.
