Officer-Specific Platforms & Objectives

• Sanctuary Campus

  • Invest in resources to protect the mental wellbeing of all students, particularly those directly targeted by ICE

  • Addressing the respective needs of undocumented students on campus

• Empowering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Implement measures that ensure student protections against federally-imposed economic coercion and university budget cuts

• Safety in Action

  • Advocating for a more vocal campus with safeguarded intellectual freedoms and student-organized dissent

  • Implement measures that combat campus militarization and disproportionate scales of surveillance and policing

• Safeguarding Basic Needs

  • Combatting food and housing insecurity amongst student communities

  • Investing in campus-based basic needs programming networks to effectively scale resource accessibility

What is General Representative

• Each General Representative conducts a position of broad advocacy, addressing wide-ranging undergraduate concerns that do not fall neatly under a single specialized commission. Each Gen Rep individually manages an independent staff of student directors, chiefs of staff, and interns to execute platform goals. Each office works to organize student programming and projects throughout the year, from creating and running independent campus initiatives, community-building projects, or resource funds (such as relief grants, safety drives, or local business partnerships). Gen Reps also vote on official legislation, resolutions, and the allocation of unrestricted student contingency funds to campus organizations. Additionally, Gen Rep offices work to bridge the gap the gap between individual students, student groups, and the official administration by taking direct feedback and conducting direct outreach to both internal and external entities.
