Welcome! My name is Jayha Buhs-Jackson and I serve as the President on USAC.

Officer-Specific Platforms & Objectives

  • Union and Student Solidarity

    • union outreach, student workers’ rights advocacy, establish a systemwide student worker coalition, increase connectivity between ASUCLA leadership and student workers

  • Student Community & Safety

    • equitable enforcement of anti-hate crime policy, Time Place & Manner (TPM) educational forums, free expression integrity

  • Strategic Partnership and Engagement

    • LAUSD outreach, increased resources & internship opportunities, policy & administrative transparency

  • Diversifying USAC

    • scaling campus-wide USAC literacy, encourage equitable hiring processes & representation for marginalized student groups

What is the president

  • The UCLA Student Body President is elected each year under their platforms and, with the additional responsibility to serve the general undergraduate student body of UCLA as the official representative of UCLA’s Undergraduate Student Association. This includes representing the interests of the general student population, initiating and pursuing legislation, and maintaining communication with student organizations, ASUCLA Board of Directors, UC Office of the President and more. The President also has standing members of various committees including Campus Safety Advisor Board, Police Accountability Board and Council Of Presidents. Additional responsibility of the president is to carry executive functions of USAC, exercise budgetary veto when applicable and carry out the Seat at the Table Initiative weekly.
